We've been meaning to try Playa's Pita for years, but thought it a bit pricey compared to good, nearby alternatives. Now everything is pricey and it came highly recommend, so we ordered takeout. The meals had some very good elements, others were mediocre or not so great. Portions were generous. The falafel is some of the best I've had, so light, fluffy and not at all greasy! The hummus, pickles, salad and chicken (according to my husband, I don't usually eat meat) were very good. The rice was pretty good, a pilaf version with vermicelli. The vegan grape leaf was generous in size, but not improved by some sort of dry bean. The babaghanouj was disappointing. It had a very odd flavor. The garlic sauce had little flavor. Now that I know that the lentil soup is vegetarian, I will order that next time along with the dishes we liked. Their app was easy to use, our pick up order was ready on time and we had no complaints about the service or venue.
This spot came highly recommended by my Airbnb host while visiting LA and no wonder their food was just so good. Got their chicken shawarma pita sandwich, chicken shawarma plate that came right rice, pita and salad and everything was so delicious. We got the food to go and it was ready for pick up in 15 mins or so. The joint had decent seating spots too.

Playa's Pita is the only Mediterranean option in Playa del Rey. Fortunately it's pretty good. It's consistent and fresh. Even before inflation in recent years, it's always been on the expensive side. There are places in Westchester, El Segundo, and Marina del Rey that are more affordable with bigger portion sizes...but none of them have chicken shawarma as good as this spot, so I find myself coming back and enjoying it every time, even if I always wish they included hummus with their entrees.
I have been coming here for over a decade and the food amazingly keeps getting better every time!!! It's insane. The owner busts his butt working the shop alone half the time. My cousins are Lebanese so I grew up with these specific Mediterranean spices and it brings me to my childhood every time. The portions are amazing and it's always ready on time. I've been getting take away since covid but he's reopened the dining area. Sitting in their outdoor seating area on a nice day is really lovely as well. Great service. Great food. Never disappoints.
